How to log extra activity?

Perhaps I'm just overlooking something, but if I put someone new in and want to log activity, I can't seem to do that and have it count toward my totals.  Or if I want to connect with someone in particular and log activity, the only place I can seem to do it is in the notes section.  Is there something I'm missing?

  Hi Mary, 

  Yes definitely! You can always track your connections even if the connection was outside of the follow up lists.
  To do so:
  Search the persons name in the search field
  Select Connect in the profile
  Make any notes
  Select type of connection and if it was an invite
  Done- this will now be tracked toward your goal for the day.
